February Meeting, Orion Library, CWRC, MDP

The Michigan Democratic Party State Convention is Saturday, February 21, from 8 AM to 5 PM at Cobo Hall in Detroit.

North Oakland Democratic Club (NODC) January 2009 Events and Meetings:

- An Obama/Biden Inaugural parties planned for Tuesday, January 20th from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM in downtown Clarkston, please contact info@northoakland-dems.org for details. There is a limit to the number of attendees who can attend these two parties so you need to RSVP.

- If you are going to Washington DC, there is a Michigan Inaugural Ball at the American History Museum of the Smithsonian. Tickets to this black tie event are $200 each. Call 703-288-8696 or email Michigan@hayespr.com for information.

- Congratulations to John Dickie of Ortonville who received inaugural tickets from the office of Congressman Mike Rogers and will be in attending the Inauguration!

Orion/Oxford /Addision Meeting Room B – Saturday, January 31, 10:30 AM to Noon at the Orion Twp Library, 825 Joslyn Rd, Lake Orion 48362

- On January 31th (Orion Library), we will hold elections for NODC club officers (Chair, Vice Chair, Treasurer, Secretary) and nine (9) Executive Committee members. You must be a member in good standing of the North Oakland Democratic Club to vote or be elected. If you are interested in being an Officer or a member of the Executive Committee, please contact Tracy Jensen via info@northoakland-dems.org

- At our meetings there will also be a short discussion on the writing of resolutions, in preparation for our Oakland 8th District Convention on February 7 from 10 – Noon (Registration is at 9 AM). The Oakland-8th Convention will be held in the Pernick/Aaron Conference Room of the Oakland County Commissioners Auditorium building, 1200 N. Telegraph Rd, Pontiac MI. You must be a member of the Michigan Democratic Party as of January 8th (30 days prior) to vote in Feb. 7th convention. Precinct Delegates, 2008 ballot candidates, and currently serving elected officials in Oakland County can renew their MDP membership anytime prior to the start of the convention.

To vote at the February 21st State Convention (Cobo Hall), you must be an MDP member as of January 22nd (except for Precinct Delegates, etc.)

Clarkson/Brandon/Springfield - meet with us Thursday October 16th at the Independence Township Fire Department training room from 7 PM to 8:30 PM, 6500 Citation Dr. Clarkston, east of S. Main St, north of M-15. We will discuss plans between now and election day for this area with Erik Buehmann, Field Organizer for the Michigan Campaign for Change.

Orion/Oxford/Addison – meet with us Thursday October 23rd at the Orion Twp Library, meeting room A from 7 PM to 8:30 PM, 825 Joslyn Rd, Lake Orion, north of Clarkston Rd. We will discuss plans between now and election day for this area with Erik Buehmann, Field Organizer for the Michigan Campaign for Change.

Holly/Rose/Groveland – meet with us Tuesday October 21st at the Groveland Township Hall, 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM, 4695. Grange Hall Rd, Holly, (beween Dixie Hwy and Ortonville Rd) We will discuss plans between now and election day for this area with Sarah Bruhn, Field Organizer for the Michigan Campaign for Change.
