NODC June Events – Mark your calenders

There are a number of events which you are invited to, please attend and get to know fellow Democrats in North Oakland County better!

Now is the time to join or renew your membership with the NODC, if you haven’t already.

There are a number of events in Oakland County that may be of interest to you, they are listed farther down in this email.

Saturday, June 13: 10 AM to Noon – the 8th Congressional District Committee will meet at the Brandon Township Library, 304 South St, Ortonville, MI. Join us as we discuss social networking tools such as Facebook and Twitter and the 2010 election. This meeting rotates between the five counties of in the 8th District, so this is the meeting closest to you!

Wednesday, June 17: our Holly area Meetup, meet State Senate District 15 Candidate Pam Jackson and OCDP Political Director Jason Bauer. 6:00 pm – 7:45 PM, Wednesday, June 17, 2009, at the Holly Township Library, 1116 N Saginaw St, Holly, MI

Thursday, June 18: our Watershed Forum, a panel discussion cosponsored with the Clinton River Watershed Council.
6:30 PM to 8:45 PM, at the Orion Township Library, 825 Joslyn Road, Lake Orion.

Saturday, July 4th: 9 AM to 11 AM – Join us in the 4th of July Parade in Clarkston! Walk a mile in our shoes and support our club. The parade is a lot of fun. Help us hand out candy to kids along the one mile parade route. After the parade, join us at Clintonwood Park in Independence Twp for the annual Festival of Fun. North Oakland Democratic Club (NODC) January 2009 Events and Meetings:

– An Obama/Biden Inaugural parties planned for Tuesday, January 20th from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM in downtown Clarkston, please contact info@northoakland-dems.org for details. There is a limit to the number of attendees who can attend these two parties so you need to RSVP.

– If you are going to Washington DC, there is a Michigan Inaugural Ball at the American History Museum of the Smithsonian. Tickets to this black tie event are $200 each. Call 703-288-8696 or email Michigan@hayespr.com for information.

– Congratulations to John Dickie of Ortonville who received inaugural tickets from the office of Congressman Mike Rogers and will be in attending the Inauguration!

Orion/Oxford /Addision Meeting Room B – Saturday, January 31, 10:30 AM to Noon at the Orion Twp Library, 825 Joslyn Rd, Lake Orion 48362

– On January 31th (Orion Library), we will hold elections for NODC club officers (Chair, Vice Chair, Treasurer, Secretary) and nine (9) Executive Committee members. You must be a member in good standing of the North Oakland Democratic Club to vote or be elected. If you are interested in being an Officer or a member of the Executive Committee, please contact Tracy Jensen via info@northoakland-dems.org

– At our meetings there will also be a short discussion on the writing of resolutions, in preparation for our Oakland 8th District Convention on February 7 from 10 – Noon (Registration is at 9 AM). The Oakland-8th Convention will be held in the Pernick/Aaron Conference Room of the Oakland County Commissioners Auditorium building, 1200 N. Telegraph Rd, Pontiac MI. You must be a member of the Michigan Democratic Party as of January 8th (30 days prior) to vote in Feb. 7th convention. Precinct Delegates, 2008 ballot candidates, and currently serving elected officials in Oakland County can renew their MDP membership anytime prior to the start of the convention.

To vote at the February 21st State Convention (Cobo Hall), you must be an MDP member as of January 22nd (except for Precinct Delegates, etc.)

July 15, we will have a regular meeting at the Orion Township Library, 825 Joslyn Rd, Lake Orion, from 7 -8:45 PM [Map]. We hope to have Oakland County Clerk candidate Sheila Smith, and Circuit Court Judicial candidate Mary Ellen Brennan. This meeting is for the whole club area, and we will vote for club endorsements at this meeting.

July 17, we will have the first of three organizing meetings for Barack Obama, led by staff for Michigan Obama for President. The first is at the Brandon Library, 304 South St, Ortonville, [Map] from 7 – 8:30 PM This meeting is intended to organize volunteers from Brandon, and Independence Townships. People are free to attend any or all of these meetings.

July 19, we will be in Leonard for the Addison Twp Strawberry Festival, for community outreach for our candidates. http://www.strawberryfest.net/ Parade starts at 11 AM, so be there by 10 AM. We will have our booth there until 6 PM, please join us! The parade will start from Leonard Elementary School (Oxford Schools) 335 E. July 21, we will have the second of three organizing meetings for Barack Obama, led by staff for Michigan Obama for President. The second meeting is at the Groveland Twp Hall, 4695 Grange Hall Rd, Holly Twp. [Map] from 6:3o to 8:30 PM This meeting is intended to organize volunteers from Holly, Rose, Davisburg, and Groveland. People are free to attend any or all of these meetings.

July 23rd, we will have the third of three organizing meetings for Barack Obama, led by staff for Michigan Obama for President. The third meeting is at the Orion Twp Library, 825 Joslyn Rd, Lake Orion [Map] at 7 PM – 8:30 PM. This meeting is intended to organize volunteers from Orion, Oxford, and Addision Townships. People are free to attend any or all of these meetings.
