  • April 16,  (Saturday) 10 am to Noon, Adopt-A-Road, Brown Rd between Baldwin and Joslyn, Orion Twp, 48359.   • April 16, (Saturday) 6 pm to 9 pm, MDP Jefferson-Jackson Dinner and Celebration, Cobo Hall, Detroit, MI – Join the NODC at our table and celebrate 8th District Precinct Delegate of the Year, Melissa Bernardi, and Keynote Speaker Minnesota Senator Al Franken.
  • April 21, NODC Monthly Meeting  6:30 pm – 8:30 pm, Red Knapp’s American Grille, 6722 Dixie Hwy, Clarkston, MI 48346   Speakers: Oakland County Prosecutor Jessica Cooper, Scott Banks – VP Clarkston Education Association, MEA, Julie Meredith – Director Independence Township Library. Please bring canned and packaged food for our ongoing community service project to support the Oxford/Orion Fish Food Pantry.

Michigan Democratic Party State Convention, Cobo Hall, Detroit, MI, 8 am to 5 pm

  • 8 am to Noon – Registration and Constituency Caucuses
  • Noon – 1 pm – Lunch Break
  • 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm Congressional District Caucuses (8th District W2-63, 9th District O3-45) – Officers and State Central delegates to be elected
  • 3:00 pm – 5 pm Riverview Ballroom, election of MDP Chair, two Vice Chairs, remarks from Senator Stabenow and other elected officials.

to vote you must receive your Delegate credential at registration.  Non-voting members can attend this convention.

January 20, 2011 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm (Thursday) Join the NODC for our January meeting at Red Knapp’s American Grille, 6722 Dixie Hwy, Clarkston, MI   Food and beverage can be ordered from the menu before, during, and after the meeting.

  • Election of NODC Officers for the 2011 – 2012 cycle:

  • Frank Houston, Oakland County Democratic Party (ODCP) Chair, will speak to the group about his plans for the next two years.
  • Jeanie Lamreaux – “No Place for Hate” anti-bullying project at Clarkston High School
  • Please bring canned and packaged food donations for the Oxford/Orion Fish food pantry.  The NODC donated over 1,000 pounds in 2010, and we would like to exceed 1,100 pounds in 2011 (11 in 11!)

January 25, 7:30 to 10 pm State of the Union address watch party (Tuesday) at the Clarkston Union (M/C Room in the basement)

Clarkston Union, 54 S Main St, Clarkston, MI – the event is in the basement (M/C room), attendees can order off the of the menu for food and beverage.

January 29, 10:00 am to noon - (Saturday) Oakland 8th District Convention, leading up the MDP State Convention February 12th, at the Oakland County Commissioners Auditorium, Pernick/Aaron Conference Room.  1200 N Telegraph Rd, Pontiac, MI.   Registration from 9 am to 10 am.  You must be a member of the Michigan Democratic Party, as of December 30, to vote at this convention.

December 15, NODC December Meeting and Holiday Celebration Wed. from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm The Clansman Gaelic Pub at Canterbury Village, 2325 Joslyn Rd, Lake Orion, MI 48360, 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm  We will meet in their meeting room (upstairs).  [Map to Restaurant]

  • Christina Kuo, Executive Director of Michigan Common Cause will speak to the club about the redistricting in Michigan which will occur in 2011.
  • Sherri Liebau, Regional Community Director for Governor Granholm has been invited to provide a “wrap-up” of the activities of the Granholm/Cherry administration.
  • December is our last month to reach our 2010 goal of 1,000 pounds of food to donate to the Orion/Oxford Fish food pantry [Link].  The NODC has donated over 800 pounds, so we are at 80%  of our goal.  Each month this organization distributes over 14,000 pounds of food to needy families in the area.   Please bring canned and packaged foods to donate to this worthy cause.

2011 NODC Memberships are now being collected.  Membership is on a calendar year basis and memberships received in November and December will be received as 2011 memberships.  Please renew now!   [Membership Form]
