Labor Day Parade - Clarkston

  • Sept. 1, (Mon.)  9:30 am – 11:30 amLabor Day Parade in Clarkston with Phil Reid for Commissioner.  Phil Reid for Oakland County Commissioner, District 4, is registered for the Labor Day Parade in Clarkston. The Friends of Phil Reid look forward to your participation on Monday, September 1, 2014!  This is a one mile parade route, and it should move fairly quickly.  Please arrive by 9:30 am.  The parade will begin at Renaissance High School (“D” – Clarkston Community School’s alternative education building) at 6558 Waldon Rd., (map link)  across from Clarkston Elementary at 10:00 AM sharp and proceed down Church St., north on Main St. through downtown Clarkston, turning left on Miller Rd. The parade will end before reaching St. Daniel Catholic Church (“A”) on Miller near Holcomb Rd.
    We will be able to shuttle people back to Renaissance HS, or you can park near the parade end (at or near @St Daniel Catholic Church 7010 Valley Park Dr, Clarkston, MI 48346).  Please let me know if you can participate (email pwreid1@aol.com or phone 248-802-9203)

  • Sept 20 (Sat) - Adopt-A-Road Fall pick-up, 9:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. 400 Brown Rd (Costco N.E. Parking Lot)  We provide bags and safety vests, please bring work gloves and study shoes.  More hands makes the task go faster!
  • September 21, (Sun) – noon – 5 pm - Taste of Clarkston  (W. Washington St at Main St), Clarkston, MI 48346 Please join us at our 10′ x 10′ canopy on Washington St. as we once again participate in this hugely popular street festival.
  • September 21, (Sun) – 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm – Oakland County Democratic Party 54th Annual Phil Hart Dinner.  Please join our table as we recognize our own Kevin Church, Precinct Delegate of the Year!
  • September 27 (Sat) – Septemberfest – Ortonville  10 am – 5 pm (South St at Mill StPlease join us at our 10′ x 10′ canopy on South St. as we once again participate in this popular street festival.

  • Thurs. Oct. 18, 6:30 pm to 9:00 pm – Taste of Oakland at Club Venetian, 29310 John R. Madison Heights, MI 48071  – The NODC will have a table, and if you join us tickets are $35 otherwise the will be $50 at the door.  This is a fundraiser for the Oakland County Democratic Party to help recover court costs resulting from the GOP power grab of the Oakland County Commissioner redistricting process.

Aug 3 – Primary! Congratulations to Virg Bernero, who won all jurisdictions in the North Oakland Democratic Club area!  Congratulations to Casandra Ulbrich (Senate Dist. 12), Pam Jackson (Senate Dist. 15), and Paula Zelenko (Senate Dist. 26) for winning their contested primary!  David Lillis (House Dist. 46), and Phil Frabrizio (House Dist. 44) both won their uncontested primaries, as did Mark Venie (County Commissioner Dist 2), John Bingham, Jr (County Commissioner Dist 3), and Phil Reid (County Commissioner Dist 4).  Ken Christie lost in his primary bid for County Commissioner Dist 1 to Ken Quisenberry.   Lance Enderle received 10% of the write-in votes against Kande Ngalamulume, who has quit the race for 8th District Congress for the second time.   Congratulations to Dana Margaret Hathaway for making it to the November election for Probate Court (Nonpartisan)!

Aug. 7  Sat. 10 am to 5 pm NODC will participate in the Celebrate Oxford Business Expo.  It is located on E. Burdick at Washington St in Oxford.  Stop by and say hi, or join us behind the table for our outreach to the community in Oxford.

Aug. 7  Sat. 2 pm to 5 pm Oakland County Democratic Party (OCDP) 2nd Annual Obama Birthday Bash in Troy at Firefighters Park, 1800 W Square Lake Rd. Join the OCDP for their annual summer picnic to celebrate President Obama’s birthday.  Fun, games, food and Democrats. $20 contribution per person.

Aug. 14 Sat. 9 am to noon – Oakland 8th District Convention at the Oakland County Commissioners Auditorium (Pernick – Aaron Conference Room).  Registration 9 am to 10 am, meeting from 10 am to noon.  The Convention will vote on submitted resolutions for the MDP Convention, and will receive candidates that wish to meet with our group.  You must be a member of the MDP to vote at this meeting.  Elected precinct delegates can renew their membership the day of the convention.  Example of resolutions can be found at the MDP web site http://michigandems.com/content/resolutions.php

Aug 21, Sat. 4 pm to 9 pm, NODC Summer Picnic Fundraiser at the home of Fred and Nancy Miller 875 N Baldwin Rd, Oxford, MI (Brandon).  Food, fun, candidates, music!  Adults $10 each, Children under 18 $5.00  Five acres of fun and frolic!  Please bring a dish to pass, NODC will provide hamburgers, hot dogs, soft drinks and water.
