Dec. 17 (Wed) NODC Mtg and Holiday Celebration 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm at C-Pub (a.k.a. Clansman Gaelic Pub) at Canterbury Village, 2325 Joslyn Rd, Lake Orion, MI 48360.  Entrance via  Joslyn Ct.  C-Pub is directly behind the Kings Court Castle banquet facility.

Guest Speakers include Michigan Democratic Party Chair Lon Johnson, who will discuss the 2014 General Election; and Oakland County Water Resources Commissioner Jim Nash, who will discuss the impact of pending “lame duck” legislation that would change the election years for county-wide offices.

Please bring canned and packaged food to donate to the Oxford/Orion FISH Food Pantry. (Please now food donations that have exceeded the “sell by” date).   December Pantry Wish List:  Cereal, Boxed potatoes (any kind), Canned pasta (Spaghetti, Chef Boyardee, etc.), Gravy, Mustard, Canned stew, Tomato sauce and paste, Stewed tomatoes

Now is the time to join or renew your membership with the North Oakland Democratic Club!  Membership form.    Membership is on a calendar year basis.  Any memberships received between now and January 1 will be considered 2015 memberships.

August 9, Saturday, 9:30 a.m. – noon Oakland 8th District MDP Convention, Oakland County Commissioners Auditorium 1200 N Telegraph, Pontiac, MI

 

August 17, Sunday, 4 pm – 8 pm North Oakland Democratic Club Summer Picnic, $10 per person, children $5 per person.  875 N. Baldwin Rd, Oxford, MI 48371

April 16 Meeting
Please join us for our April meeting at the Clarkston Union (M/C room downstairs) 54 S Main St, Clarkston 48346, Wed. April  16, 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm (appetizers and some beverages will be provided)
  • Our guest speakers will be former Michigan Democratic Party Chair Mark Brewer who will talk about recent changes to Michigan and Federal campaign finance law; and Rick Pluta Lansing correspondent for the Michigan Public Radio Network on the political scene in Lansing.  Candidate for Congress Ken Darga will also attend our meeting, and anyone who is circulating petitions for him are asked to please bring them to this meeting.
  • As always, please bring your canned and package food donations for Oxford/Orion FISH Food Pantry to the meeting and we will deliver your donations.
  • Now is the time to join or renew your membership in the North Oakland Democratic Club!  You can do this at our next meeting!

April 19 – Adopt-A-Road Spring Pick-up – Brown Rd between Baldwin and Joslyn

Please join us on Saturday, April 19 from 10:00 am to 11:30 am for our Spring pickup on Brown Rd.  We meet at the Costco parking lot (NE corner).  More hands make the work lighter!  Please wear sturdy shoes and bring a pair of work gloves.  Safety vests, bags, and picking sticks will be provided.

NODC Vice Chair Francine Melotti will be recognized as the 8th District Honoree!  There is still one ticket available at our North Oakland Dems table.  Ticket price is $160 (versus $175 if your ordered yours online).  Please contact Phil Reid (248-922-9203) if you would like to complete our table of 10.

Precinct Delegates needed!
We will be collecting Precinct Delegate applications for the 2014 August Primary at our April and May meetings.  The filing deadline is Tuesday, May 6 4:00 pm, but now is the time to file.  We can notarize your application at the meeting and submit the form for you, or you can mail your notarized form (follow link) or deliver your form in person prior to the deadline.  Notarized applications must be submitted to the Oakland County Clerk by mail or in person.

Sat. June 2 – MDP Congressional District Conventions – Registration 9 a.m., Convention begins 10 a.m.

At the conventions, voters will select delegates and alternates to the National Convention in Charlotte, North Carolina.

  • 9th District – Troy Historic Village, 60 W. Wattles Rd. (at Livernois, in the Church Building), Troy, MI 48098

Wed. June 20,  Monthly meeting will be at the Clarkston Union (M/C Room downstairs), 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm

  • Lynnette Teller, MEA Public Affairs Council member and MEA/NEA delegate will discuss educational issues, particularly public education and the work of the MEA Public Affairs Council
  • LuAnn Kozma from “Ban Michigan Fracking” will talking about Induced hydraulic fracturing or hydrofracking, commonly known as fracking in Michigan, with a focus on Oakland County.
