NODC wins Second Place in Addison Twp Strawberry Festival – Leonard, July 19

Sunday, July 20th, 2008

I’d like to thank North Oakland Democratic Club Treasuer, Patrick Howse, for being such an important part of Saturday’s activities.
Also Jayne Hamilton and Carla Meier representing OCDP On The Road, were critical to today’s success. We were delighted that Bob Alexander and his Oakland 8th Field Manager Ernesto Mireles for driving from East Lansing (90 miles, 1.5 hours – one way), to walk in our Parade, leaflet houses and talk to voters.
Amazingly, we received the Second Place Ribbon for our parade entry! We had a great day and made some new friends in Leonard, which is a voting jurisdiction in the extreme northeast corner of Oakland County.
Barack Obama was prominently displayed on our vehicle, and we had Obama yard signs, bumperstickers, buttons, and rally signs for sale. Importantly, the North Oakland Democratic Club and the Oakland County Democratic Party were well represented in a conservative corner of the county.
Senator Levin, Bob Alexander, Brenda Lawrence, and Jane Boudreau were also represented on our parade vehicle.

OCDP On The Road at Carry Nation Parade Holly Sept. 8th

Wednesday, September 5th, 2007

Please share this with your lists so we can have a great turnout. Thanks!

OCDP On the Road
Oakland County Democratic Party On the Road invites you to join the festivities and support the growing Democratic stronghold of Holly, Michigan at Holly’s huge, historic
34th Annual Carry Nation Parade
Saturday, September 8
Our presence sponsored by
the Oakland County Democratic Party,
the North Oakland Democratic Club and
the Orion Area Democratic Club

Holly is a significant part of the Democratic Party’s support in the northern part of our county. It’s a growing area; and it’s growing more Blue. We’ll carry our banners and hand out treats for kids and dogs. You’ll be helping gain votes for 2008.

The Carry Nation Parade is part of the three-day Carry Nation Festival Sept 7 – 10. The festival features a Classic Car Show, Arts & Crafts and Food vendors, Kids activities, dramatic presentions, and much more. Carry Nation was a leading figure for prohibition and visited Holly when it was a booming railroad town riddled with taverns and ladies of ill repute. She was known for busting up bars, and closing down “sinful” drinking and gambling establishments and Holly was a perfect choice. The parade and festival were established to commemorate the end of prohibition – so what better to express our joy than a good old fashioned parade?
