September Events

NODC_logoSeptember 6, Labor Day Parade, Clarkston, MI 48346 9 am – noon, park at Clarkston Junior High School 6595 Waldon Rd, Clarkston, MI 48346.  Parade Starts at Clarkston Renaissance High School, 6558 Waldon Rd, ends on Miller Rd, west of Main St.

September 6, Clarkston, MI 48346 Birthday Party and Fundraiser for Casandra Ulbrich noon to 2 pm.  At the home of Shelley Hirth, 7140 Dark Lake Dr – only a few blocks from where the Labor Day Parade ends!  Suggested donation is $25.

September 11, Barn Daze, Orion Twp, Friendship Park (Corner of Clarkston and Balwin Rd, entrance off of Clarkston Rd) 11 am – 5 pm.  This is a great family event, and the NODC will be there to support our Democratic Party candidates, including Casandra Ulbrich for State Senate (Dist 12)!

September 16, Red Knapp’s, Mtg. Rm, 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm, 6722 Dixie Hwy, Clarkston, MI 48346 (Speakers TBD)

September 25, Septemberfest, Ortonville, MI 48462  10 AM to 5 PM, South St, and Mill St.  The NODC will be supporting our Democratic Party candidates, including Paula Zelenko for State Senate (Dist. 26)

September 26, Taste of Clarkston, W Washington St at S. Main St, Clarkston, MI 48346  noon – 6 PM – This is a huge event, typically 10,000 people show up on Main St!  Join us as we support our Democratic Party candidates!

September is a busy month, here are events to add to your calendar. The North Oakland Democratic Club (NODC) needs your support in these areas:

Oakland County Democratic Party (OCDP) meeting Tuesday, Sept 8th, 7 PM at the Oakland County Commissioners Auditorium 1200 N. Telegraph Rd, Pontiac, MI

8th District Committee Meeting Thursday, September 10, 6:30 PM,St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 700 Columbia Dr, Durand, MI 48429 [ Map ] – find out what is happening with the 8th District!

Join the NODC Saturday, September 12, as we walk in the Carry Nation Festival Parade. The parade begins Airport Rd at Saginaw St. We will start from the p arking lot of VFW Post 5587, 201 Airport Dr at 9:15 AM Parade begins at 10 AM
The parade ends at Karl Richter Campus School 920 E Baird St the parade route is about 1.3 miles
We plan to provide transportation from Karl Richter back to the VFW Hall on Airport Dr.

The NODC monthly meeting Wed. September 16th at 6:30 PM at the Clarkston Union Bar & Kitchen, 54 S. Main St (M-15), Clarkston, MI 48346
We will meet in the M/C, which is located in the lower level. We will be discussing plans for Septemberfest in Ortonville (9/26) and Taste of Clarkston (09/27)

The NODC will be in Ortonville for Septemberfest, Saturday, September 26th, join us as we represent the Democratic Party in Brandon Twp. We expect be in the area of Mill St and South St. [ Map ] with our canopy. Contact: Phil Reid 248-812-9203

The NODC will be in Clarkston for their annual Taste of Clarkston, Sunday, September 27th, we will be in the area of Main St. and Washington St.

October 4th is the annual OCDP Phil Hart Dinner, at the Somerset Inn in Troy MI, Dinner begins at 7 PM. This year’s keynote speaker will be Congressman Barney Frank. Tickets are $85, and the NODC should have a table at this event. Please let me know if you can attend (248-812-9203).

Join us on July 4th for the Clarkston Independence Day Parade and Festival of Fun

Sunday, June 21st, 2009

This year the parade theme is “The History of the American Flag”

We suggest you park at the end of the Parade route (Clarkston Community Education Center 6558 Waldon Rd at Cherrylawn Ave prior to 9 AM, transportation will be available to the Parade start which is St. Daniel Church 7010 Valley Park Dr (nearest corner is Miller and Holcomb St).

The parade begins at 10 AM and the parade route is about one mile long. The parade will end at 11:30 AM

We are also looking for a parade vehicle.

This parade is lots of fun, we will have banners, flags, and candy, but we need you to make it a success!

There are a number of events which you are invited to, please attend and get to know fellow Democrats in North Oakland County better!

Now is the time to join or renew your membership with the NODC, if you haven’t already.

There are a number of events in Oakland County that may be of interest to you, they are listed farther down in this email.

Saturday, June 13: 10 AM to Noon – the 8th Congressional District Committee will meet at the Brandon Township Library, 304 South St, Ortonville, MI. Join us as we discuss social networking tools such as Facebook and Twitter and the 2010 election. This meeting rotates between the five counties of in the 8th District, so this is the meeting closest to you!

Wednesday, June 17: our Holly area Meetup, meet State Senate District 15 Candidate Pam Jackson and OCDP Political Director Jason Bauer. 6:00 pm – 7:45 PM, Wednesday, June 17, 2009, at the Holly Township Library, 1116 N Saginaw St, Holly, MI

Thursday, June 18: our Watershed Forum, a panel discussion cosponsored with the Clinton River Watershed Council.
6:30 PM to 8:45 PM, at the Orion Township Library, 825 Joslyn Road, Lake Orion.

Saturday, July 4th: 9 AM to 11 AM – Join us in the 4th of July Parade in Clarkston! Walk a mile in our shoes and support our club. The parade is a lot of fun. Help us hand out candy to kids along the one mile parade route. After the parade, join us at Clintonwood Park in Independence Twp for the annual Festival of Fun. Carry Nation Parade – Saturday Sept 6th 9:30 – Noon

Please join us for the Carry Nation Parade this Saturday, show your support for the Democratic Party and your candidates, including Barack Obama, Bob Alexander, and all Democrats on the ballot! The parade route is about 1.25 miles, easy to walk and fun to do!

Look for us near Veterans of Foreign Wars 5587, 201 Airport Dr, Holly, MI an d the parade will go to the Karl Richter Campus, 920 E. Baird Street
