November 2 – Election Night Watch Party 8:30 pm – 11:00 pm at the Clarkston Union Bar & Kitchen, M/C Room (basement).   Join us as we watch the election returns.  Food and beverages can be ordered off of the menu.  Please bring canned / packaged food donations for Oxford/Orion Fish food pantry.

November 17 – Wednesday, 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm – Red Knapp’s American Grill – Oxford – 2 N Washington St, meeting room.  – General Meeting, speakers: Valerie Cass from FISH -Secretary, member of the Board of Directors, newsletter author and office volunteer for Orion/Oxford FISH Food Pantry.  OFA Field Director Melissa Bernardi and another member of the OFA Michgian Team will also speak to the group.

October 2, Adopt-A-Road Canceled due to rain.   No rain date planned for this month. SPRING Clean Up is a MUST as it’s the worst and need to get out before the mowers.

October 16, 1:00 pm – 2:30 pm The Villager Restaurant, 1121 N Saginaw St # 7, Holly, MI 48442-1380 – Meet and Greet Pam Jackson (candidate for MI Senate District 15), and Lance Enderle (Candidate for U.S. Congress, MI District 8).  After the meeting, some of us will go out and knock doors for these candidates in the Holly area.  You can order food and beverage off of the menu when you arrive and during the meeting.   This is also a low-dollar fundraiser (suggested amount is $20 or more), proceeds to be donated to these candidates.

October 20, The Clansman Gaelic Pub, 2325 Joslyn Rd, Lake Orion, MI 48360, 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm (Invited speakers, Pam Jackson, Paula Zelenko, and Casandra Ulbrich – candidates for Senate Districts 15, 26, and 12).

October 29, 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm - House Party and Fundraiser for Lance Enderle, our candidate for Congress, 8th District!  At the home of Shelley Hirth, 7140 Dark lake Dr, Clarkston, 48346 Food and beverages provided.  Pay what you can afford, but please plan to attend to show your support.

September 6, Clarkston, MI 48346 Birthday Party and Fundraiser for Casandra Ulbrich noon to 2 pm.  At the home of Shelley Hirth, 7140 Dark Lake Dr – only a few blocks from where the Labor Day Parade ends!  Suggested donation is $25.

September 25, Septemberfest, Ortonville, MI 48462  10 AM to 5 PM, South St, and Mill St.  The NODC will be supporting our Democratic Party candidates, including Paula Zelenko for State Senate (Dist. 26)

September 26, Taste of Clarkston, W Washington St at S. Main St, Clarkston, MI 48346  noon – 6 PM – This is a huge event, typically 10,000 people show up on Main St!  Join us as we support our Democratic Party candidates!

Aug 3 – Primary! Congratulations to Virg Bernero, who won all jurisdictions in the North Oakland Democratic Club area!  Congratulations to Casandra Ulbrich (Senate Dist. 12), Pam Jackson (Senate Dist. 15), and Paula Zelenko (Senate Dist. 26) for winning their contested primary!  David Lillis (House Dist. 46), and Phil Frabrizio (House Dist. 44) both won their uncontested primaries, as did Mark Venie (County Commissioner Dist 2), John Bingham, Jr (County Commissioner Dist 3), and Phil Reid (County Commissioner Dist 4).  Ken Christie lost in his primary bid for County Commissioner Dist 1 to Ken Quisenberry.   Lance Enderle received 10% of the write-in votes against Kande Ngalamulume, who has quit the race for 8th District Congress for the second time.   Congratulations to Dana Margaret Hathaway for making it to the November election for Probate Court (Nonpartisan)!

Aug. 7  Sat. 10 am to 5 pm NODC will participate in the Celebrate Oxford Business Expo.  It is located on E. Burdick at Washington St in Oxford.  Stop by and say hi, or join us behind the table for our outreach to the community in Oxford.

Aug. 7  Sat. 2 pm to 5 pm Oakland County Democratic Party (OCDP) 2nd Annual Obama Birthday Bash in Troy at Firefighters Park, 1800 W Square Lake Rd. Join the OCDP for their annual summer picnic to celebrate President Obama’s birthday.  Fun, games, food and Democrats. $20 contribution per person.

Aug. 14 Sat. 9 am to noon – Oakland 8th District Convention at the Oakland County Commissioners Auditorium (Pernick – Aaron Conference Room).  Registration 9 am to 10 am, meeting from 10 am to noon.  The Convention will vote on submitted resolutions for the MDP Convention, and will receive candidates that wish to meet with our group.  You must be a member of the MDP to vote at this meeting.  Elected precinct delegates can renew their membership the day of the convention.  Example of resolutions can be found at the MDP web site http://michigandems.com/content/resolutions.php

Aug 21, Sat. 4 pm to 9 pm, NODC Summer Picnic Fundraiser at the home of Fred and Nancy Miller 875 N Baldwin Rd, Oxford, MI (Brandon).  Food, fun, candidates, music!  Adults $10 each, Children under 18 $5.00  Five acres of fun and frolic!  Please bring a dish to pass, NODC will provide hamburgers, hot dogs, soft drinks and water.

July 3rd Clarkston Parade and Festival of Fun

The North Oakland Democratic Club will once again participate in the Clarkston Independence Day Parade, which will be on Saturday, July 3rd. The parade will start before 10 a.m. (arrive by 9:30 am) from the parking lot of St Daniel Church, 7010 Valley Park Dr (corner of Miller Rd and Holcomb Rd) and will end at Church St at Cherrylawn Ave around 11:30 am.  We will be joining candidates like Casandra Ulbrich for State Senate Dist.12, Phil Fabrizio for State House 44, Phil Reid for County Commissioner, Dist. 4, Mike McGuinness for County Commissioner, Dist 5, and will also have walkers for David Layton (MI AG), and Jocelyn Benson (MI SOS). This event is a lot of fun and whether you’ve walked in a parade or not, this is a fun one!

After the parade we will be at the Independence Twp “Festival of Fun” at Clintonwood Park, 6000 Clarkston Rd, Clarkston, MI.
Parking is $5 at the event, or free at Clarkston High School, 6093 Flemings Lake Rd, and you can take the shuttle between CHS and Clintonwood Park.

July 10, Adopt-A-Road, Brown Rd between Baldwin and Joslyn, 8:30 am and 11:30 am, Orion Twp, 48359.  We will meet at the Costco parking lot (northeast corner).

July 17, Strawberry Festival Parade (and Festival) – Leonard in Addison Twp.  11 am – 5 pm we will be in Leonard for the annual Addison Twp Strawberry Festival.   We will have a booth at the annual street fair on E. Elmwood St, Our candidate for Senate District 12, Casanda Ulbrich, will be in the parade, and our club plans to join her in the parade (which is less than 1/2 mile long).   We will have candy to hand out to children (and some adults), and we will be there to show our support. Please join us! The parade starts at noon (please arrive by 11 am) at Leonard Elementary School (335 E Elmwood) and ends at Forest St (Rochester Rd)

July 25, OCDP Phil Hart Dinner, 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm (Troy Marriott 200 West Big Beaver Road Troy, MI 48084), Keynote speaker, former Senator and candidate for President, George McGovern, Senator Carl Levin, Senator Debbie Stabenow, Congressman Carl Levin and other guests.
