  • NODC September Meeting Wed. Sept. 21, 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm Clansman Gaelic Pub at Canterbury Village (Upstairs Meeting Room) 2369 Joslyn Ct, Lake Orion, Michigan
  • Guest speakers include:
    •  Oakland County Parks & Rec. Director Dan Stencil, and Oakland County Commissioner Gary McGillivary to provide an update regarding Oakland County Parks.
    • Lance Enderle on his campaign for Congress
    • Also, we have invited a small business owner Rick Galbraith from Castacios from North Oakland County to speak to our group.
    • Melissa Bernardi will provide an update for OFA.
  • Please bring canned and packaged foods for our ongoing donation to the Oxford/Orion FISH Food Pantry.

  • NODC at Septemberfest – Ortonville, MI Sat. Sept. 24, 10 am to 5 pm This one-day family event takes place in downtown Ortonville, and admission is free! Children and adults of all ages will enjoy live music and stage entertainment, magic shows, contests, a pet parade, inflatable attractions, over 100 vendors, great food, and the Ted Baker Memorial Car Show.
    Free parking will be available at Brandon Fletcher Intermediate School, and free shuttle bus service will run back and forth from the parking lot to downtown Ortonville throughout the day.  Drop by our booth on South St, near Mill St. and say hello!
  • NODC at Taste of Clarkston – Clarkston, MI  Sun. Sept. 25, Noon to 6 PM  Join the NODC as we greet visitors at our canopy on W. Washington St @ Main St.
    - TASTE TICKETS are available on site in $1 increments.  Buy what you need at the event  (We suggest easy pack of $10 to get started)  FREE parking at school lots Park at Clarkston Elementary, Clarkston Junior High School, Renaissance HS or Clarkston HS.  FREE Shuttle Bus
    - ALSO HAPPENING (separate tickets for these events available onsite, the day of the event)
    SCAMP Designer Showcase House (44 E. Washington), Clarkston Union Oktoberfest Beer Tent (Union Parking lot), Clarkston Rotary Club Wine Tent (Clarkston News Parking lot), LIVE MUSIC on TWO STAGES, SEE the Entertainment schedule, TWO FREE KidZones–games & activities: Depot Park & Washington St. Parking Lot.

September 6, Labor Day Parade, Clarkston, MI 48346 9 am – noon, park at Clarkston Junior High School 6595 Waldon Rd, Clarkston, MI 48346.  Parade Starts at Clarkston Renaissance High School, 6558 Waldon Rd, ends on Miller Rd, west of Main St.

September 6, Clarkston, MI 48346 Birthday Party and Fundraiser for Casandra Ulbrich noon to 2 pm.  At the home of Shelley Hirth, 7140 Dark Lake Dr – only a few blocks from where the Labor Day Parade ends!  Suggested donation is $25.

September 16, Red Knapp’s, Mtg. Rm, 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm, 6722 Dixie Hwy, Clarkston, MI 48346 (Speakers Matthew Clark for David Leyton, Kevin Hrit for Jocelyn Benson, Paula Zelenko, candidate for Senate Dist. 26, Richard Lyon for MCC Waterford, Melissa Bernardi for MCC Pontiac)

September 25, Septemberfest, Ortonville, MI 48462  10 AM to 5 PM, South St, and Mill St.  The NODC will be supporting our Democratic Party candidates, including Paula Zelenko for State Senate (Dist. 26)

September 26, Taste of Clarkston, W Washington St at S. Main St, Clarkston, MI 48346  noon – 6 PM – This is a huge event, typically 10,000 people show up on Main St!  Join us as we support our Democratic Party candidates!

Join us on July 4th for the Clarkston Independence Day Parade and Festival of Fun

Sunday, June 21st, 2009

This year the parade theme is “The History of the American Flag”

We suggest you park at the end of the Parade route (Clarkston Community Education Center 6558 Waldon Rd at Cherrylawn Ave prior to 9 AM, transportation will be available to the Parade start which is St. Daniel Church 7010 Valley Park Dr (nearest corner is Miller and Holcomb St).

The parade begins at 10 AM and the parade route is about one mile long. The parade will end at 11:30 AM

We are also looking for a parade vehicle.

This parade is lots of fun, we will have banners, flags, and candy, but we need you to make it a success!

There are a number of events which you are invited to, please attend and get to know fellow Democrats in North Oakland County better!

Now is the time to join or renew your membership with the NODC, if you haven’t already.

There are a number of events in Oakland County that may be of interest to you, they are listed farther down in this email.

Saturday, June 13: 10 AM to Noon – the 8th Congressional District Committee will meet at the Brandon Township Library, 304 South St, Ortonville, MI. Join us as we discuss social networking tools such as Facebook and Twitter and the 2010 election. This meeting rotates between the five counties of in the 8th District, so this is the meeting closest to you!

Wednesday, June 17: our Holly area Meetup, meet State Senate District 15 Candidate Pam Jackson and OCDP Political Director Jason Bauer. 6:00 pm – 7:45 PM, Wednesday, June 17, 2009, at the Holly Township Library, 1116 N Saginaw St, Holly, MI

Thursday, June 18: our Watershed Forum, a panel discussion cosponsored with the Clinton River Watershed Council.
6:30 PM to 8:45 PM, at the Orion Township Library, 825 Joslyn Road, Lake Orion.

Saturday, July 4th: 9 AM to 11 AM – Join us in the 4th of July Parade in Clarkston! Walk a mile in our shoes and support our club. The parade is a lot of fun. Help us hand out candy to kids along the one mile parade route. After the parade, join us at Clintonwood Park in Independence Twp for the annual Festival of Fun.
