Phone Bank Event
When: Thursday, January 11 from 6:00-8:00 pm
Where: 1949 Twin Lakes Blvd Oxford, MI 48371

Remember these wonderful days? They are systematically being erased from our policies and our role in the world is being diminished every time 45 and his representatives open their mouths. This Administration and the Republican office holders that enable it, like Mike Bishop, are chiseling away at our institutions and our core democratic principles. Take this holiday season to enjoy your families, eat lots of cookies, have some eggnog by the fire. But in 2018, we’re going to need you. Our very democracy is at stake. This is not a drill! Let’s clean up this list and reach out to our neighbors so come election time we can get out the vote and get them out!!

Please RSVP at

When: January 17, 2018 at 6:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m.
Where: Clarkston Union (M.C. Room) 54 S. Main St., Clarkston

The weather outside is frightful but there are still plenty of opportunities for activism!  Please join us for our jam-packed January meeting to find out how you can get involved in turning North Oakland BLUE!  Speakers to include Ken Whitaker and Rebecca Gray from the Michigan People’s Campaign to talk with us about the Earned Paid Sick Time Ballot Initiative and the Universal Family Care Initiative. Also, candidate for Michigan Senate District 12, Rosemary Bayer, and candidate for Oakland County Commisioner District 1, Michelle Bryant, will be joining us to discuss their campaigns and how we can get involved.   Last, but not least, Emily Clancy, East Michigan’s Field Organizer at Planned Parenthood Advocates of Michigan will be updating us on efforts to protect PP and how we can help.

As I mentioned for our last meeting, if you are so inclined please consider bringing a donation of tampons or pads to go to Planned Parenthood and, as always, bring any non-perishable food donations for the Oxford/Orion FISH food pantry.

Hope to see you there!

Project 83 Phone Bank Event

When: Thursday, December 7 from 6:00-8:00 pm
Where: 1949 Twin Lakes Blvd Oxford, MI 48371

Ok, so the going through hell part is NOT about the phone bank. The phone bank is FUN and essential! 2017 has been pretty hellacious but there are many signs that if we dig deep, and keep going, we are going to get through this. Look at the recent elections. Not just in Virginia but in our very own state, even in some of the most red districts, Dems. have been winning. That is because of boots on the ground like US! And it is obvious that the GOP is worried about our excellent candidates and causes and our continued push to turn this ship around. At our last canvass even, a GOP operative posed as a customer at the cafe in order to eavesdrop and try to gather intel. Their horrible “healthcare” disasters and their wildly unpopular tax cut for billionaires plan is not helping them. Let’s keep going. We are the ones that are going to bring it home. Hope to see you! There will be snacks and amazing camaraderie as usual!

Poster party at Picasso on June 29th 2017

Womens march

Where: Picasso’s Grapevine, 12 South Main St., Clarkston

When: June 29th 6:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m.

So Phil Reid had the best idea for the Clarkston 4th of July parade. Let’s have a mini-Women’s March to represent our Democratic Club and our democratic values. Let’s make positive, colorful homemade posters to represent what we value most: love, compassion, our environment, our health, equality, our jobs, our veterans, our education, our neighbors, so many topics to cover!  We need a ton of people so that we can have as many democratic values represented as we can think of!  It’s so important especially right now. We need to make sure everyone knows we are here and we are proud so that they can join us!  Or they need to know that we are not giving up and we intend to keep on fighting.

So we are having a poster making party at Picasso’s grapevine in Clarkston on June 29th from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.. It is $15 per person and they supply all of the posterboards and art supplies. Feel free to bring something to drink if you would like. But make sure you register at the link below!!!  No ones running out of glitter glue on my watch!!!  Hope to see you there!

NODC: Project 83 Canvass!

Saturday, June 17th, 2017

When: June 24 at 10 a.m.-1 p.m.
Where: Meeting at Honcho, 3 E. Church St. Clarkston

As part of MDP’s ongoing, statewide effort to reach out to voters through local clubs like ours, we will be hosting another canvass on June 24.We have had great turnout for our first 2 events (this will be our 3rd). Let’s keep it up!  These efforts are being recognized nationwide!  That’s pretty cool!  Don’t worry if you have never knocked on doors, we will pair you with someone who has. This is a fun, essential way to reach out to our neighbors and find out what matters to them and accumulate data for our future GOTV efforts and recruit volunteers so that we can get the jump on 2018. Please join us!  We need everyone all in!
