Wed. April 17, 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm at Kings Court Castle Grille in Canterbury Village – 2325 Joslyn Rd, Lake Orion, MI 48360 (look for the burgundy awning on Joslyn)

Tonight we will not meet in C-Pub, instead we will be at the King’s Court Castle Grille (Look for the Burgundy Awning).  Park off of Joslyn Rd, do not go behind the building like you would normally do.  There is a scheduling conflict, so we are moving our meeting to a better venue at Canterbury Village.

Join us for a panel discussion on our environment with:

- Michigan League of Conservation Voters Field Director Melissa Bernardi on current legislation pending in Lansing of concern to the LCV;

- Ban Michigan Fracking coordinator Todd Bazzett;

- Sierra Club activist Ethyl Rivera on Nuclear Power risks in Michigan.

The discussion will be moderated by Marie Donigan, Executive Director of the North Oakland Headwaters Land Conservancy

You don’t want to miss this discussion!  Food and Beverage can be ordered from their menu.

Sat. April 20,  9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. 9 am to 11 am, Adopt-A-Road, Brown Rd between Joslyn Rd and Baldwin Rd in Lake Orion.

We will meet in the Costco parking lot at 400 Brown Rd. (Northeast corner) Please bring sturdy shoes and work gloves, we will provide safety vests, trash bags, and “pick-up sticks”.

More hands make the task go lighter!

  • Election Night Watch Party at Clarkston Union (M/C Room downstairs) 54 S Main St. Clarkston, MI 48346, please come after 8:15 pm
  • November NODC Mtg will be at Clarkston Red Knapp’s 6722 Dixie Hwy (Near Main St) 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm for a election results discussion.  (Other agenda items and speakers to be announced).  Please bring canned goods for our ongoing donations to Oxford/Orion FISH food pantry.

  • Wed. Oct. 17, 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm NODC October Meeting at C-Pub (a.k.a Clansman Gaelic Pub) 2325 Joslyn Rd., Lake Orion, Michigan 48360 – Jim Nash, candidate for Oakland Cty Water Resources Commissioner is invited.  Other guests to be announced.
  • Thurs. Oct. 18, 6:30 pm to 9:00 pm – Taste of Oakland at Club Venetian, 29310 John R. Madison Heights, MI 48071  – The NODC will have a table, and if you join us tickets are $35 otherwise the will be $50 at the door.  This is a fundraiser for the Oakland County Democratic Party to help recover court costs resulting from the GOP power grab of the Oakland County Commissioner redistricting process.
  • Sat. Oct 20, Noon to 6:00 pm Political Art Show in Lake Orion, at Diamond Dave’s Creative Jewelers 416 South Broadway (Lapeer RD / M-24), Lake Orion  There should be some some ecological and financial equality artists coming!

September 2012 Events

  • Clarkston Labor Day Parade

The parade will begin at Renaissance High School (Clarkston Community School’s alternative education building) at 6300 Church St., across from Clarkston Elementary located at 6558 Waldon Rd. at 10:00 AM sharp and proceed down Church St., north on Main St. through downtown Clarkston, turning left on Miller Rd. The parade will end before reaching St. Daniel Catholic Church on Holcomb Rd.   Please arrive early and enjoy the friendship.  Walk with County-wide, State, and local candidates!

 DNC Convention Watch Party Thurs. Sept. 6th

Just as the Republicans have held their convention, we too are scheduled to hold a convention — except livelier. We are hosting a watch party for the Democratic National Convention, scheduled for the upcoming Thursday on the 6th and Francine Melotti has offered to host the event at her place. Stop by, bring along the family and friends for some food, drinks and show!
