October 2011 Events

  • NODC Adopt-A-Road pick-up, Sat. Oct. 1, 10 am to Noon, Brown Rd. Between Baldwin Rd and Joslyn Rd. Meet us at the Costco parking lot (400 Brown Rd, Auburn Hills) Please join us as we conduct our 3rd clean-up of 2011 at Brown Rd between Baldwin Rd and Joslyn Rd. Bags, Safety-Vests, pick-up sticks provided. Please bring work gloves and sturdy shoes. At noon we plan to finish and and optional visit to Applebee’s for lunch is likely.
  • NODC October (Oxford) Meeting Wed. Oct 19 6:30 to 8:30 pm at Red Knapp’s, 2 N Washington St, Oxford, MI 48371 
  • Our special guest is Casandra Ulbrich, who will discuss the Engage Michigan: Vision, Values, and Victory convention of the Michigan Democratic Party.
  • We also have invited a speaker from Common Ground to talk about their programs and services.
  • Dellashon Di CresceCenter for Peace & Conflict -Wayne State University will talk about their programs related to projects, programs, curricula, research, and publications related to international and domestic peace, war, social justice, arms control, globalization, multicultural awareness and constructive conflict resolution.
  • Please bring canned and packaged foods for our ongoing donation to the Oxford/Orion FISH Food Pantry.

  • NODC September Meeting Wed. Sept. 21, 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm Clansman Gaelic Pub at Canterbury Village (Upstairs Meeting Room) 2369 Joslyn Ct, Lake Orion, Michigan
  • Guest speakers include:
    •  Oakland County Parks & Rec. Director Dan Stencil, and Oakland County Commissioner Gary McGillivary to provide an update regarding Oakland County Parks.
    • Lance Enderle on his campaign for Congress
    • Also, we have invited a small business owner Rick Galbraith from Castacios from North Oakland County to speak to our group.
    • Melissa Bernardi will provide an update for OFA.
  • Please bring canned and packaged foods for our ongoing donation to the Oxford/Orion FISH Food Pantry.

  • NODC at Septemberfest – Ortonville, MI Sat. Sept. 24, 10 am to 5 pm This one-day family event takes place in downtown Ortonville, and admission is free! Children and adults of all ages will enjoy live music and stage entertainment, magic shows, contests, a pet parade, inflatable attractions, over 100 vendors, great food, and the Ted Baker Memorial Car Show.
    Free parking will be available at Brandon Fletcher Intermediate School, and free shuttle bus service will run back and forth from the parking lot to downtown Ortonville throughout the day.  Drop by our booth on South St, near Mill St. and say hello!
  • NODC at Taste of Clarkston – Clarkston, MI  Sun. Sept. 25, Noon to 6 PM  Join the NODC as we greet visitors at our canopy on W. Washington St @ Main St.
    - TASTE TICKETS are available on site in $1 increments.  Buy what you need at the event  (We suggest easy pack of $10 to get started)  FREE parking at school lots Park at Clarkston Elementary, Clarkston Junior High School, Renaissance HS or Clarkston HS.  FREE Shuttle Bus
    - ALSO HAPPENING (separate tickets for these events available onsite, the day of the event)
    SCAMP Designer Showcase House (44 E. Join us for the Independence Day Parade in Clarkston 9:00 am to 11:30 am

Meet us at St. Daniels Church, 7010 Valley Park Dr, Clarkston, MI 48346

You might want to park at the parade finish, Clarkston Community Ed (parking lot), 6558 Waldon Rd, Clarkston, MI and walk to St. Daniels (1 mile away)

  • 2011 Clarkston Parade Map - July 4th
  • July 9th – Sat. 9:30 a.m. to Noon , Adopt-A-Road – Brown Rd, between Baldwin Rd and Joslyn Rd – Meet at Costco parking lot (NE corner) This is our second pickup of the year, your assistance would be most helpful as many hands makes the job go faster!  Please bring work gloves and a sturdy pair of shoes, the NODC will provide trash bags, safety vests, and pick-up sticks.  Afterword we expect to go to Applebee’s for brunch, so it should be a fun event.  Rain date will be Saturday, July 16 at the same time.
  • July 20th – Wed. 6:30 to 8:30 pm – NODC July meeting at Red Knapps Oxford, 2 N Washington St, Oxford Michigan.  Our special guest will be Stephen Henderson, Editorial Page Editor and Writer for the Detroit Free Press

April Events

  • April 16,  (Saturday) 10 am to Noon, Adopt-A-Road, Brown Rd between Baldwin and Joslyn, Orion Twp, 48359.   • April 16, (Saturday) 6 pm to 9 pm, MDP Jefferson-Jackson Dinner and Celebration, Cobo Hall, Detroit, MI – Join the NODC at our table and celebrate 8th District Precinct Delegate of the Year, Melissa Bernardi, and Keynote Speaker Minnesota Senator Al Franken.
  • April 21, NODC Monthly Meeting  6:30 pm – 8:30 pm, Red Knapp’s American Grille, 6722 Dixie Hwy, Clarkston, MI 48346   Speakers: Oakland County Prosecutor Jessica Cooper, Scott Banks – VP Clarkston Education Association, MEA, Julie Meredith – Director Independence Township Library. Please bring canned and packaged food for our ongoing community service project to support the Oxford/Orion Fish Food Pantry.

November 2 – Election Night Watch Party 8:30 pm – 11:00 pm at the Clarkston Union Bar & Kitchen, M/C Room (basement).   Join us as we watch the election returns.  Food and beverages can be ordered off of the menu.  Please bring canned / packaged food donations for Oxford/Orion Fish food pantry.

November 17 – Wednesday, 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm – Red Knapp’s American Grill – Oxford – 2 N Washington St, meeting room.  – General Meeting, speakers: Valerie Cass from FISH -Secretary, member of the Board of Directors, newsletter author and office volunteer for Orion/Oxford FISH Food Pantry.  OFA Field Director Melissa Bernardi and another member of the OFA Michgian Team will also speak to the group.

Food and beverages can be ordered off of the menu. [Map]
