NODC August Picnic

Sat. Aug. 17 4:00 pm to 8:30 pm NODC Picnic at the home and property of Fred and Nancy Miller 875 N Baldwin Rd , Oxford, Mi 48371

Cost per person $10 each, $20 per family. Hamburgers, hot dogs and soda pop and water provided. You are encouraged to also bring a side dish or dessert to share.

This is an opportunity to meet candidates and have fun with our great club!

Wed. July 17, 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm – NODC  July meeting at C-Pub (a.k.a. Clansman Gaelic Pub) at Canterbury Village 2369 Joslyn Court Lake Orion, MI 48360.
July will be our “Call to Action” meeting, where leadership from the Michigan Democratic Party and Oakland County Democratic Party are invited.

NODC Adopts Brown Rd in Orion Twp

NODC Adopts Brown Rd in Orion Twp

Sat. July 20, 8:30 am to 10:30 am NODC Adopt-A-Road pickup on Brown Rd, between Joslyn and Baldwin in Lake Orion.
We will meet at the Costco parking lot (400 Brown Rd), and will likely stop someplace for brunch afterward.
More hands make the work go faster!  Please bring a pair of work gloves and sturdy shoes for this activity.
We will have safety vests, “picking” sticks and trash bags.




NODC Clarkston ParadeThurs. July 4th, 9:00 am to noon – Clarkston Independence Day parade. Please join us as we walk again in this year’s 4th of July parade in Clarkston.

We will begin at St. Daniel Church parking lot (Miller St at Holcomb). The parade begins at 10 a.m., and ends before noon at Clarkston Community Ed. parking lot (parade is about 1 mile long).

The best bet is to park where the parade ends (where there is plenty of parking) and walk to where the parade begins (where there is no parking). We need help with banners, signs, and handing out candy.

NODC June 19 2013

Join us for our Wed. June 19th NODC meeting at the Clarkston Union (downstairs), 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm (appetizers will be provided), cash bar available.

June will be our “The state of education in the state of Michigan” forum

additional speakers and agenda items to be announced.Please, as always, bring canned and packaged food donations for the Oxford/Orion FISH food pantry (one of our ongoing public service activities)Now is the time to join or renew your membership in the NODC!  You can join online or by mail, or at our next meeting.
We are in the last day of registration for the MDP Justice Caucus Millie Dinner and, of course, excited to meet our keynote speaker, Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont.  Tony Trupiano (Night Shift with Tony Trupiano) will be the Master of Ceremony.  We will also highlight the work of Congressman Dingell during the dinner – this weekend he becomes the longest serving congressperson in history.

The deadline is tomorrow morning (June 6) to get tickets for the Justice Caucus dinner.  Can you please share widely through the OCDP, media and your own circles?

April 2013 Events

Wed. April 17, 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm at Kings Court Castle Grille in Canterbury Village – 2325 Joslyn Rd, Lake Orion, MI 48360 (look for the burgundy awning on Joslyn)

Tonight we will not meet in C-Pub, instead we will be at the King’s Court Castle Grille (Look for the Burgundy Awning).  Park off of Joslyn Rd, do not go behind the building like you would normally do.  There is a scheduling conflict, so we are moving our meeting to a better venue at Canterbury Village.

Join us for a panel discussion on our environment with:

– Michigan League of Conservation Voters Field Director Melissa Bernardi on current legislation pending in Lansing of concern to the LCV;

– Ban Michigan Fracking coordinator Todd Bazzett;

– Sierra Club activist Ethyl Rivera on Nuclear Power risks in Michigan.

The discussion will be moderated by Marie Donigan, Executive Director of the North Oakland Headwaters Land Conservancy

You don’t want to miss this discussion!  Food and Beverage can be ordered from their menu.
